Hello from Gallery Midnight in St Lucia

Hi everybody,

Firstly the bad news; it looks like the gallery will not be open again this winter as the building work has still not been completed, aahhhhh!. But the good news is I have just opened a mini Gallery Midnight in St Lucia. Pina Colada’s all round!

The Ski show was a blast this year. Having the MBC and the Chamonix Tourist board along side made the whole event just more fun.

It was brilliant to have MBC beer a snowballs throw from the gallery.

So a big THANK YOU to Nadine,Terry and Matt for making the Huge effort of creating a real Chamonix atmosphere and getting every one pissed !

Thank you to Claire from the Tourist board for getting the rest of Chamonix involved.

MBC Chamonix at the metro ski show

Gary Bigham was a star, you can never underestimate the man , Thanks Gary you made it snow for après ski.

Terry and Greeny’s Beer tasted just as good as it does back in Cham. So now you know it travels well, what’s to stop you getting the whole world fizzy popped till they drop.

Richie, Snowy, John the Sex I mean ‘Sax’ and the Derminator . Thanks boys the music was brilliant.

Cindy La La added the sexiness to the show and stopped the Crevassholes from being a boy band. As a gallery girl she rocked and I could not have done with out her, especially when the beer sneaked up on the midnight. She was much better than that American girl who used to help out who could not even make a proper cup of pg tips! (hey Pattie how you doing? X)

Sarah Parmer was the head gallery girl and I now realise that sexiness sells, thanks Sarah.

Matt Snowball and Dermott provided and built the stage, sorted the lighting and sound and just added their coolness and groovyness to the whole sherbang. Thanks boys things just don’t get done with out you and I know we don’t thank you enough.

There was a lot of Chamonix back up too, Thanks to Bruce (now known as HOT DOG)

The best blond behind the bar Rachel, Craig from Heidi ski, and Heidi herself

It was great to see Charlie Adam from Bungalow graphics (loved the Yeti suit and you should move back to Chamonix I, we miss you)

I know I have missed lots of people but you also know that the rosé has stolen a lot of my memory over the years which is why I had too leave Chamonix for a while.

Andy Parkin and myself raised over £2000 for the Care Cancer Trust, So I hope that goes a long way to taking the kids skiing in Morzine this year. Thanks Parky

Well folks that’s it for now. Just wanted to touch base and wish you all a great season,

When you go skiing do a few crap turns for me and I will think of you whilst I’m sipping on my Rum and coconut water from the tree in the garden.

If you are missing the gallery and the Wednesday night wine evenings just book a flight and come and see me in the new gallery in st Lucia. If you can not make it then go on to the website and check out the paintings in ‘’Island Life’

Also on the website there are new photos from the ski show in the Flicker section.

So I leave you with the new cartoon strip which I will do on a weekly basis to keep you and myself amused over the winter. (you can check it out on the gallery midnight face book) I hope you like the young Character (thank you Vicky for lending me your son as the inspiration)

Finlay

So listen the lot of you, have a smashing season and if you can’t be good be careful!

Cheers Midnight

oops wrong charity

oh - I just said in the newsletter that we were working with 'Cancer Care' we are in fact working with Caring Cancer Trust. Cancer Care is a different charity altogether and although doubtless doing some very good work, is actually nothing to do with them.

my bad

Their website www.caringcancertrust.com goes live this week.

Sincere appologies to both charities

sorry for any confusion

Johny

Metro ski and snowboard show UK - 21–25 October, London Olympia

Caring Cancer TrustGallery Midnight

hello hello

 - I can not believe I am having to fly back from the Caribbean to do the ski show! But you know what - after 4 months of sunshine I am looking forward to a pint of Bitter and wearing socks and a woolly jumper.

So this year's show is going to be slightly different, because this year the boys and girls from the MBC are going to be with us! Yippie!  They will be opposite the gallery on the upper decks of Olympia along with The Chamonix Tourist board and other Chamonix businesses. This makes so much more sense with every one representing Chamonix all in one place and just an arms stretch away from a beer at the MBC.

Now the idea is that we make you feel like you are already in resort.  There will be live music in the bar area every day for apres ski, with lots of prizes like lift passes and skis to be won. You can think of the bar as your HQ during the show. Arrange to meet your friends there (as you would do in resort), or use the bar to put your feet up at the end of a long day walking around the show.

Come and drink lots of beer and get stupid with your friends!

This year I will be working with a new charity, Caring Cancer Trust. Once again we will try to bring awareness to the cause, whilst having fun and raising money at the same time.

So this is what we are up to:

  1. Andy Parkin and myself will be painting a canvas that you can help us with - You donate some money and help paint the alpine picture.
  2. We have really cool t-shirts made up by Caring Cancer Trust with one of my designs on, which I hope you will like and buy. I will even sign it for you.  If I remember to spell my name correctly it might be worth something one day soon!
  3. The Charity have chosen some of my paintings and made them into Christmas cards. They look great (wish I had thought of it myself) . So you can buy these too.
  4. Win a painting.  One of my paintings worth over £2000 (not sure which one yet) will be up for grabs if you have the lucky winning Raffle ticket. The tickets will be on sale all week and we will have the draw on Sunday before the show closes. That's got to be worth a punt.

Thursday night will be Gallery night

So like last year I will have a certain amount of free entry tickets, valid for entry from 5pm.

There will be new work on display by Andy Parkin and myself.

As an added attraction: Gary Bigham and the Crevasholes will be making sweet music.

I'm really pleased that the likes of;

Richie, piano, guitar, trumpet, foot tapping and yodeling (does anyone know how to spell this AUSTRIAN word?)
The Dermonator, bass, and a little more bass
Snowy, Piano, guitar, yodeling
John the Sax, drum and flute
and hopefully The Chambells: Pattie and Cindy LaLa will all be coming across for the show.

We will be showing the Award winning documentary by Blue Hippo Media about Andy Parkin and Gary promises to do his world famous slide show!

I will need you to email me back so that I can put you on the guest list, and please if you can not make it, let me know so that I can offer the ticket to some one else (they are like gold don't you know!).

Lastly , I would love you to check out the new look Gallery Midnight website still at the same address www.gallerymidnight.com

There is a new section in there called ISLAND LIFE, which is not full of photos of me lying about on the beach whilst my wife is hard at work.  It's actually full of the new work that I have been painting since arriving in the Caribbean 4 months ago.

I'm really looking forward to catching up with everyone.

I am going to leave you with two new pieces of work - one the mountains 'Picnique interdit', and just for fun one of the new pieces from the Caribbean 'Island Hurricane' - see them full size on the new website.
