Aim for the Blue - Part 2
Aim for the Blue - Part 2
by Johny Midnight
Two ghostly white sailboats on a rough Prussian blue ocean, heavy grey sky overhead. The companion to Part 1 - the paintings' horizons align, and a touch of turquoise in the distance gives both their shared meaning.
Limited edition fine art prints, hand-signed and numbered by the artist. Once the edition is sold out, it will not be reproduced.

Artwork Description
Two sailboats, rendered in pale, almost translucent white, navigate a dark and choppy sea in Johny's companion canvas to Part 1. The sky is equally weighted with heavy grey applied by palette knife - curtain-like, oppressive, closing in from above. Prussian blue with hints of turquoise makes up the ocean, its surface textured and restless. In the far distance, a glimmer of clearer sky suggests the destination both paintings are aimed at. Hung side by side with Part 1, the two horizons line up precisely, creating a single extended seascape.

Artist's Insight
Part two has two boats rather than one, still ghostly and pale against all that heavy sky. The palette knife grey overhead is the same in both - those curtains being drawn across. What I love about the diptych is that when they're hung together, the horizons match up perfectly and you get one long, continuous painting. The turquoise hint in the distance is the safe haven in both. That's the point - you're aiming for the blue, not the grey. Sold as a pair with Part 1.
