The Nature collection gathers Johny Midnight's paintings of the living world - birds on a wire, turtles gliding over coral, whales, elephants, a peacock half-hidden in colour. Wildlife has run through his work since childhood, and this collection brings it together in one place.

Many of these paintings begin as pure abstraction - poured, rolled or palette-knifed colour - until a creature emerges and the picture finds its subject. That is the heart of Johny's abstract-on-reality approach: a realistic bird or animal set against a loose, expressive ground, precise where it matters and free everywhere else. The subjects come from close, patient watching, much of it during years spent in the Caribbean.

Each work begins as an original oil, acrylic or mixed-media painting and is released as a strictly limited edition print of 100. The prints preserve the texture and colour of the original, and a number of the paintings are still available to buy.
