  • Artwork Description

    A shoal of around thirty clownfish fills the foreground, and beyond them the reef opens into a crowded ecosystem: a green turtle, drifting octopus and squid, a giant parrotfish, and the darker shapes of sharks further back. The colour is warm and tropical, the composition layered for depth so that the longer you look, the more surfaces. It works as spectacle and as a puzzle - equal parts underwater scene and hidden-object hunt.

  • Artist's Insight

    I couldn't tell you exactly how many clownfish are in this, but I would guess around thirty. Look past them and you will find a green turtle, some sharks, a few octopus, a giant parrotfish, some squid and a great white or two. I wanted something children could stand and stare at, but also a picture for anyone who loves diving and nature and enjoys turning up hidden treasure the longer they look.
