  • Artwork Description

This vibrant acrylic work presents Bellevue Road in SW12 as a vivid stage of neighbourhood choreography. The red 319 bus - locally known as the Nappy Valley bus - moves through the centre of the composition, anchoring the scene in South West London. To the left, The Hope Pub's forecourt buzzes beneath bright orange umbrellas, tables crowded with drinkers and conversation. Cyclists thread between traffic, parents push prams, and children sit on shoulders. The right-hand green verge offers a breathing space where dog walkers and couples stroll. Bold, clean colour and simplified gesture heighten the joy and familiarity of a street that is unmistakably Balham.

  • Artist's Insight

Bellevue Road is one of those streets that tells you exactly where you are the moment you see it. The Hope Pub, the green, the 319 bus - they're all part of the rhythm of life in SW12. I wanted to capture the whole thing at once: the terrace crowd, the cyclists, the prams, the dogs. The colour is deliberately bold and clean - almost celebratory. Streets like this are worth painting because they change slowly, and the people who live there deserve to see themselves in the work.
