  • Artwork Description

Battersea Power Station is rendered in almost metallic orange, as if the building itself is absorbing and reflecting the low autumn sun. This intense warmth is balanced by turquoise shadows and fluorescent pink highlights, giving the chimneys a luminous, electric presence against the skyline. The background is built using spray paint, palette knife and rollers - soft misty areas colliding with sharper architectural forms. Cranes weave throughout the composition, linking background and foreground. The River Thames is broken into abstract tiled blocks of colour, reflections shimmering in a rhythmic, pop-driven pattern that ties the entire composition together.

  • Artist's Insight

Big Power 30 is less about literal representation and more about how the power station feels at a specific moment - glowing, alive and unapologetically bold. The metallic oranges and fluorescent pinks reflect my fascination with sunset light and how it transforms industrial architecture into something almost theatrical. The cranes are not hidden or softened; they're embraced as part of the story, helping the composition flow between sky, structure and river. For me, this painting is about harmony through contrast - hard architecture softened by colour, abstraction grounded by structure, and chaos resolved through rhythm.
