Big Power 33
Big Power 33
by Johny Midnight
A dreamlike large-scale work where Battersea Power Station appears to float within its surroundings. Wide sweeps of pink, mauve and turquoise soften the structure, while the Thames and distant bridges dissolve into suggestion rather than fact.
Limited edition fine art prints, hand-signed and numbered by the artist. Once the edition is sold out, it will not be reproduced.

Artwork Description
Battersea Power Station appears to hover within a softened, dreamlike cityscape. The background sky is built from wide expressive sweeps of pink, mauve and subtle turquoise, creating a sense of calm and suspension. The power station's brickwork is rendered in rich reds and pinks, glowing gently against cooler surrounding tones. The chimney stacks rise cleanly through the haze, anchoring the composition, while the foreground dissolves into abstract hints of the River Thames and distant bridges. Painted using rollers, credit cards and palette knives, the surface carries layers of texture that soften the structure while maintaining its unmistakable silhouette.

Artist's Insight
With Big Power 33 I wanted Battersea to feel as if it wasn't tied to the ground anymore - almost floating. The Thames and the bridges are there if you look for them, but they're not essential. The power station itself becomes the cloud. I was interested in what happens when you remove the anchoring elements - the hard horizon line, the defined water. The building gains a different kind of presence. It's soft, but it still has weight. The rollers and credit cards helped create that layered, drifting quality - paint that feels suspended rather than applied.
