Big Power 6

Big Power 6

by Johny Midnight

An intensely abstract and futuristic vision of Battersea. Vast luminous pink fields fill the foreground, the station's linear form rises in bright orange and yellow, and the sky explodes in blue and magenta - bold, modern and unapologetic.

Limited edition fine art prints, hand-signed and numbered by the artist. Once the edition is sold out, it will not be reproduced.

  • Artwork Description

Vast areas of luminous pink dominate the foreground, creating a glowing, energetic base that feels modern and slightly surreal. Battersea Power Station rises above in strong linear forms - solid and commanding, anchoring the composition within surrounding abstraction. Sunlight strikes the side of the building in bright orange, pale orange and soft yellow, giving the façade a sense of heat and life. Above, the sky is worked loosely in layers of bright blue, magenta and pink - colour placed instinctively, making clear this is an emotional response to place and atmosphere rather than a literal cityscape.

  • Artist's Insight

With Big Power 6 I was leaning fully into instinct and colour. Battersea had stopped feeling like a building - it had become a presence: permanent, immovable, quietly dominant. I stripped away unnecessary detail and focused on rhythm, structure and impact. The intense pinks and bold oranges weren't planned; they emerged naturally as I responded to the canvas. I wanted this piece to feel loud, modern and unapologetic, reflecting both the building's industrial past and its future-facing transformation. It's the most confident painting in the series, I think.
