The Fab 3

The Fab 3

by Johny Midnight

The iconic 1970s Fab lolly - sprinkle-topped, red-bottomed, gloriously dripping - repeated across three Andy Warhol-inspired colour panels of magenta, deep teal and warm amber. Pure unapologetic pop art nostalgia.

Limited edition fine art prints, hand-signed and numbered by the artist. Once the edition is sold out, it will not be reproduced.

  • Artwork Description

Three panels, three colours, one instantly recognisable subject: the Fab lolly, that British childhood staple of soft vanilla, red ice and rainbow sprinkles. Johny painted the original in oil on canvas, then used Photoshop to create a Warhol-inspired triptych - each panel identical in form but bathed in a different bold ground: magenta-purple, teal-blue, amber-orange. The lolly drips. The sprinkles catch the light. The result is bright, bold and unapologetically joyful - a painting about memory, summer, and the simple pleasure of something cold on a hot day.

  • Artist's Insight

I was inspired by Warhol - taking an everyday object and repeating it in different colour fields until it becomes something more than itself. The Fab lolly felt perfect. It's iconic, it's British, and it immediately takes you back to being a child. I painted the original in oil and then worked it in Photoshop to create the triptych. It's supposed to be fun and to remind you of your childhood. Which was your favourite lolly?
