  • Artwork Description

Two cross-country or telemark skiers traverse a wide, open winter landscape under a heavy, cloud-pressed sky. One figure has dropped just below the ridge line, only the upper body visible. The other follows behind, heels slightly raised - a precise detail that places them on touring rather than downhill equipment. The background is soft and monochrome, all grey tones and obscured distance. The skiers blend into the environment, sharing its quietness rather than contrasting with it. This is slow skiing - measured, solitary, and entirely at peace with the weather.

  • Artist's Insight

Not every day in the mountains is about downhill runs. Sometimes it's about moving through the landscape, feeling the weather, enjoying the quiet. This painting came from those slower days where you're travelling rather than descending - where the mountain sets the pace and the silence does most of the talking.
